Turn your pain into power

We all have experiences in life that hurt us, breaks our heart and sometimes it even feels like our very soul and spirits have been wounded by these experiences. We have all been there. Sometimes it feels like you will never recover from them. But I’m here to tell you, that not only can you be restored, but you can actually turn that very experience that has hurt you into a power-giving thing.

Your painful experiences in life can actually benefit you, because when you get through to the other side you will be better prepared for the next level of success in your life. And sometimes it’s those very same painful experiences that forces you to get creative about solving certain problems in your life. When you are pushed into a corner it can unlock creativity in you that you never knew you had. Many times I’ve heard about people who were unable to find a job and out of that frustration, pain and desperation a business idea was birthed that changed the trajectory of their lives.

For example, a woman named Tina Botha lost her young son to leukaemia and she managed to turn that terrible pain into something so powerful when she helped to start The Sunflower Fund. The Sunflower Fund is a non-profit organisation in South Africa that fights blood diseases like Leukaemia through the recruitment of stem cell donors and by maintaining a registry of potential donors that will help anyone in need of a life-saving stem cell transplant and more.

Pain, loss and failure are part of life. That is a fact. No one can escape it, but we can use it to our ow advantage or even to help others. Have you ever heard the saying “Turn your mess into a message or a ministry”? Well, it is so true. You are able to better help others if you’ve been through something yourself. It gives you credibility and authenticity. You just can’t fake the lessons learned in the valley.

The Bible says in Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” God does not want bad things to happen to us, but sometimes bad things do happen, because we still have an enemy called Satan. But even when those bad things happen God can still use them for our good. Victory can still be yours and instead of being a victim of your circumstances and life, you can be victor in Christ and in life.

I remember feeling so much pain after my older brother was murdered. I just felt like I was literally being crushed by the weight of the pain. It was and is still a terrible loss. But now I am truly stronger and can help others deal with the pain of losing a loved one. I have also learned what true forgiveness is through that experience. I had to forgive the person who stabbed him to death, especially in light of the fact that that person never went to jail and is walking around as a free man due to our law system in South Africa. But now I am able to minister to others going through similar experiences. That is a blessing.

When life knocks you down, learn to bounce back. Rest of you must. Cry if you must. Crawl if you must. But don’t let the pain overtake you and make you quit. You will never succeed if you quit before the time. One of the keys to success in life is to not give up. Just don’t give up. It was with this thought in mind that I created this wall art. Don’t ever give you. Success might be just around the corner.
