It’s a love thing
Have you ever stood in what you believed to be true faith, but not getting the results that you were expecting? Have you been frustrated because this “faith thing” just seemed like it was not working? Well, I have and I am sure some of you have too.
Faith alone won’t work
I tried confessing, quoting scriptures, praying in tongues – nothing worked. Dead. That is until I heard a message preached by Kenneth Copeland that opened my eyes to this truth: faith works by love. Upon some deep self-examination, I realized that there were some areas in my life where I was not walking in love. I had allowed strife to enter my life and by doing so, I had inadvertently given the devil a foothold. And so my faith was not working. It was ineffective.
Faith works by love
I never understood before that faith works by love. After all, what does faith have to do with love? Well, I have since learned that faith has got everything to do with love. The foundation of faith is love. Faith works by love according to Galatians 5:6: “For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love”.
Faith won’t work until we walk in love. There should be no strife whatsoever in our lives. Whatever you are believing God for, you will not receive it if there is strife of any kind in your life. Strife will break the whole faith thing – same as unforgiveness will.
Jesus’ Commandments to us
Jesus commands us to love one another as He has loved us(John 13:34-35 NIV). He is not giving us options here. He says explicitly: “A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. ” God knows how important the love walk is for us as Christians, it can make or break our faith walk.
Mark 12:31 says: “Love your neighbors as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” Wow, can you see that? Another direct commandment from Jesus. We cannot ignore the importance of our love walk as Christians. I know it gets hard sometimes. Many of us have to deal with some toxic people in our lives(read my blog post on how to deal with toxic people here). That can pose a significant challenge to our love walk, but we simply must do it: love, love, love. Without it, we will not be able to receive anything from God.
Don’t give the devil a place
The devil knows this and so he works very hard to keep us in strife with each other. Small things get blown out of proportion, constant bickering, family at odds with each other – the list goes on and on. But as Christians, we have a God that we can run to for help. He can help us to control our flesh. He can help us to sort out these issues that we are having. We can go boldly to the throne of grace seeking mercy and grace. We can repent and start over, time and time again. Do NOT give the devil a foothold by being in strife with others, instead run to God.
When we falter in our love walk, we can go to God, confess to him and start over again. Love again. Don’t let anything or anybody hinder your love walk, because your love walk is directly connected to your faith walk. It is that important.
Faith is heaven’s currency. We are able to receive healing, deliverance, salvation, prosperity, good relationships and so much more by faith. Just about everything that is good and from above you can receive by faith.
Can we go a bit deeper?
1 John 4:7 -8 says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” So God equals Love and Love equals God. Can we change our wording to read then: Faith works by God(Love) because God is love and love is God. Incredible.
According to 1 Corinthians 13:8, “Love never fails….” In other words, God never fails, because God is love. If we, therefore, release love into a situation – no matter how bad it may seem, we are in actual fact releasing God into that situation. And love never fails. God never fails. That just amazes me when I think of it that way. So our success is guaranteed when we release love(God) into a situation because love never fails! Halleluiah!
The Christian difference
As Christians, our love walk should be the thing that sets us apart from other religions. When people look at us they should see Christ in us. In other words, they should see love in us. I don’t know about you, but I want more than anything to excel in my daily love walk. It may not be easy, but I am sure that in the end, it will be worth it. As I have come to know my God, He would never tell us to do something that is not for our benefit, even if we don’t see it. He is God and He always knows better.
